This exhaustive guide aims to teach readers the essential pillars of spirituality.
Debut author Broach, a trained library science professional and realtor, began researching metaphysics during his studies at the University of Kentucky. Many religions throughout the world, he notes, believe that there exists a “higher power,” whether it be God, Shiva, or another deity; Broach asserts that these higher powers are examples of spiritual energy and help people to recognize this same energy within themselves. The author writes that because there’s so much suffering and turmoil in the world, it can be difficult for people to exist in a positive state of being; instead, many pursue the idea of heaven for the promise of future happiness. But Broach argues that people can create a similarly harmonic state on Earth by drawing on spiritual energy. His book seeks to answer questions on how to live a spiritual life, including what it means to be a spiritual being: “We, as spiritual people, are part of God,” the author says. It also addresses how spirituality and organized religion are related and how affirmations connect with one’s spiritual nature; indeed, readers from mainstream religious backgrounds should expect to have their worldviews frequently challenged. Other topics include embracing a spiritual lifestyle and using familiar spiritual tools, such as meditation and manifesting. Overall, Broach succeeds in creating a comprehensive guide for those who may be new to these spiritual ideas and eager to explore them. Occasionally, the book’s layout feels a bit disjointed, but the author’s clear storytelling talent makes up for this. Some of the concepts that Broach addresses in this book, such as auras or soul mates, are complex and may require patience from readers who are unfamiliar with them. Still, he supplements his research with engaging personal anecdotes.
A detailed handbook for those looking to learn about and connect with spirituality.
Most people believe we are biological creatures instead of spiritual entities that happen to have a body. At the books core is the premise that instead of looking at humans as physical bodies with a soul inside, we should view ourselves as souls that use a body while on earth.
"There's so much intelligence packed into this book...For once, there's a meeting point for several theories on life and after-life from diverse sources. It's not perfectly synchronous, but it's not a chaotic dispute like what is usually portrayed. It makes what the author has to say in this book believable." ~ OBC reviewer
I suppose we will never tire of thinking about how life came about and what happens when life ends. The concept of spiritual energy falls somewhat into my own belief system, so I appreciate Mr. Broach taking the opportunity to promote his take on the subject.
Spirits or the spiritual world itself is as controversial as it seems supernatural, whether you define it whilst in physical form or where you actually experience it whilst in the spiritual form. Either way, it is interesting to read the author's view on this subject.
This is an interesting educational spiritual non-fiction book highlighting philosophical questions like life and death, and how body and soul relate. The book is temporarily discounted on Amazon Kindle and has an inciteful OnlineBookClub review.
What an interesting concept and different from anything I’ve heard before. Congratulations on BOTD!
